The brief: When SACO (Serviced Apartment Company) sought to promote their new aparthotel to an untapped creative audience, they needed a fresh approach to make serviced apartments stand out as a smart alternative to standard hotels.

The solution: A playful and unexpected campaign rooted in creativity and fun. Try tattooing a banana – we’re convinced you’ll love it…Now try a SACO apartment – we’re convinced you’ll love it too! We launched a social competition that involved posting your creations on Instagram #bananatatt, for a chance to win a weekend in Amsterdam. Kicking off with handing out Bananas and pens at key London stations – and it took off!

Next, we targeted those creative types with some brain food. A crate of bananas was delivered to Design, Film, TV, Music and Digital companies in key parts of London, including Shoreditch, baiting them to enter the competition.

The results:

  • The “Bananatatt” campaign generated nearly 25,000 Facebook engagements

  • 815 social media posts

  • 335 competition entries

Another top result:
2 major corporate accounts, securing hundreds of room nights within the first month as a direct result of the campaign!

The unconventional approach resonated with the target audience, creating a buzz and positioning SACO as a vibrant, innovative brand.

By combining a quirky idea with social engagement andstrategic targeting, SACO successfully broke through the noise, proving that creativity and serviced apartments are a match made in marketing heaven.
